    Has this been mentioned before?

Seeing some medals advertised on an auction last night I wondered if there was a place where members could post pictures of stuff they have bought, obtained, borrowed and stolen.

I know we have a for sale section but thought people could post links within this section for collectors that buy stuff as well?

    Just a thought

    Stay away from the medals.

They are not good for you - or Andrea's blood pressure.

Whilst visiting Bath this summer I stumbled on a small shop situated on the Bridge, which was selling stamps and Military Memorabilia.

I was pleased to be able to purchase a set of 4 medals that my father had for the princely sum of 41 Pounds. The medal ribbons were all in excellent condition and I could not resist.

    Regards
    Tom

We did the same to illustrate relatives' WW2 service - for school project. Thankfully though, as far as my bank balance was concerned at least, none of the people featured were awarded Air Crew Europe star.

Bonafide Air Crew Star would cost you the best part of £250, even more.

More or less what I paid for many other campaign stars plus various bit and bobs to fill the gaps. Originals (with no otherwise identifiable provenance) are best and in the main cheaper than repros, but had I needed to include an ACE star for my boy's project, I would have printed one off the net, cut it out and got him to stick that on the board! :D
BoB clasp - something else that thankfully was not on my shopping list either.

I've got decent copy-copies of both if you ever need a borrow. :)

Thanks Steve, you are a star ;) but that was the last school WW project I'll have to 'help out' with.

(This all does remind me that I had wanted to get a proper display sorted after - only to fill the blank wall above my desk you understand.)

Which is, by the way, the reason I'm not helping Andy travel down that slippery slope on his latest thread.

Andy, 'Dunkirk' groups, excluding gallantry should be cheap as the campaign itself only counted towards the 1939 - 45 Star and the War medal and that's all the 40,000 -odd prisoners ended up with.
