    War Office, 14th September, 1943.
The KING has been graciously pleased to approve
the following awards in recognition of gallant and
distinguished services in the Middle East: —

    The Military Cross.

    Lieutenant Jamieson Alexander Noble (203433),
Corps of Royal Engineers (Cleethorpes, Lines.).

I copied the above from the London Gazette of Friday 10 th. September 1943.

Could anyone tell me how to find more information on why the MC was awarded ? I've noticed that sometimes the Gazette gives an explanation regarding the circumstances and at other times purely a list of names awarded the MC.

    Thanks
    R

Owen, Many thanks for that. I've been trying for some time now !!

I take it they must have been clearing enemy mines in order to open up a passageway for an attack ?

His older brother was also awarded an MC too.

For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He handled his machine guns with great coolness and daring under very heavy fire. During an enemy counter-attack he got his guns into action in the open, and frustrated all the attempts of the enemy to get their machine guns into action. His gallantry and initiative were of the greatest value at a critical moment.

The above again copied from the London Gazette.

His brother was a 2nd Lieutenant with the Machine Gun Corps. He was awarded the MC in 1917.
