Hello Stalag, terribly sorry but I think I know exactly what happened here. I believe the user you refer to was switched to the new 'recruit' status (for those at less than 5 posts) in one of our random sweeps yesterday evening. Recruits do not have a PM facility. One of those switched over has an email that fits the name. I've switched them back to 'registered user' so you should now be able to PM them ok. We had no idea that changing these status's (stati?) would also remove their sent PM's so, again, sincere apologies, and I'll call a halt to the retrospective user status updating for a while in case it harms this kind of background communication.
