I am supposed to be meeting up with some old work colleagues/friends in that area on the 4th September. I can get there earlier (before we have a few beers) and take some pics. Does anyone else need any whilst I am there? I walked past it for years when I used to work up in the smoke, but never paid it much attention. Having just seen some photos of the garden online, I think they kept it locked because of vagrants sleeping there.
Andy + Phil. My sons doing Clarke for Andy today at Tower Hill, (PM ed last Sunday)will have tomorrow and can do more (lives there) so don't know if you want me or Robert to do them, I'am easy, up to you. Don't want to upset anyone! Cheers Rob
Rob, if your boy is going then it makes sense for him to get them all. Robert, feel free to still get there earlier, it just means you can have a few more beers. Cheers to both Rob and Robert Phil
Phil Saw RD's PM before this post and replied along same lines (ie more time for beer - Joke). No seriously, if he gets the info in time it makes sense to do the names if he can. I said to RD that anyone here helps out with requests. Let me know if RD's son did not get the info in time to do yours. I'm still in the area on the 4th Sept and it's a small detour and a chance to see a memorial I never paid much attention to in 30 years of working in the city. Robert
Rob, excellent work, most apprciated. Phil I agree. Having seen your photos, I now remember the area well even though a lot of new buildings have sprung up around the memorial site.
Hello, My friends father was mentioned in despatches in London Gazette but neither of us can find him in WW2 . He was in Royal Navy , his name Crossan and number MX 49865. I wondered if anyone might have better luck please . Thanks Alan
Cheers Rob and pass on my thanks to your son.......Name now added to the GC Thread and repped left for you Andy
