Hi Geoff, no, I didn't have any of these names. We should be able to do all sorts with them though because it's possible they will all have embarkation records on Ancestry.

I'm now wondering if there are any online archives of local Australian newspapers that might have reports of their deaths or injuries, medals etc as they do here in Keighley. Ours is even alphabetically archived by soldiers names.

    Kind regards,
    Andy.

    Hi Andy,

For example: the first on the list - William Henry Carr #3718

"Tracking our Anzacs" shows you his attestation paper and his total war record (free of course). Click the attestation paper and press next and his record will show page by page.

With respect to any honours or awards you key in their names at this link and voila! THe MM decoration is also on his record.
Search Honours and Awards | Australian War Memorial

You will see he was recommended twice for the Military Medal and awarded once.

    Cheers

    Geoff

    Sir

A very suitable commemoration for the soldiers of the First World War would be for their service records to be freely accessible online rather thab subject to payment.
