While researching James Dickson, Gunner (1738894) 195 Battery, 65 Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment, Royal Artillery who was lost at sea on 19 January 1942, i found CWGC lists approx. 30 men of 194 and 195 Batteries on the same date with the majority named on the Alamein Memorial. Can anyone tell me what happened please? Ken

If you want additional details or perhaps more first hand accounts it maybe worth you trying to get hold of a copy of the following file from National Archives at Kew Reference: WO 361/153 Description: Casualties at sea, Middle East: HMS Thermopylae, sunk 19 January 1942 (between Middle East and Malta) The WO 361 Casualties At Sea/Missing Personnel files can be a really mixed bag of information, but you are far more likely to find your man mentioned in there (plus other details), than in his unit War Diary.
