    Depressing innit.
At least the memorial survived - bit of an establishing trend over here of theft recently, as metal values escalate. Govt looking at tightening up scrap regulations.

Occurs to me that I don't think we have a thread of Canadian, US & other's memorials. Watching that I'd quite like to see what's done elsewhere. Hmmm...

I will gladly donate some air miles ( one way tickets only ) to the two ladies ( nutbars is the more correct term) so that they can return to Afghanistan. There, they can enjoy life with the Taliban, attend school, and enjoy to the fullest extent, the richness of Afghan culture.

I truly wish that the ink and film wasted on these two was used instead to tell the story of a deserving vet. That outburst was a mere blip in a sea of Canadians who solemnly marked Remembrance Day from coast to coast.

    Yesterday was a blip.

    2 blips actually.

Our very messed up immigration system guarantees this will happen again.

Sadly not new, the bronze 'Victory' was stolen from a memorial in Eastleigh Hants and the Memorial cross at Otterbourne Hants was kicked over and reduced to pieces. 1980s. 1960s somebody threw the wreaths around the cathedral grounds. I suspect there are times when the media are interested and others...........

The increasing frequency of theft of metals from memorials and statues has me concerned. (Last year a statue was stolen down here in New Zealand.) We are in the process of preparing a new memorial for Kennedy Park in Castor Bay. The memorial will consist of a metal door from a searchlight emplacement that we recovered from the sea and a brass plaque dedicating the memorial to the men and women who served in defence of New Zealand.
