    However, this was my question............

Is this for WW2 veterans or veterans in general?

It is just for ww2 veterans, however that said a veteran of any war is deserving of that additional respect of being recognised by a seperate rank. What other veterans do we have who visit the site?

I would like to see it expanded to Korean war and Vietnam War vets, perhaps to vets of the Malayan Emergency, possibly to Gulf War I & II vets. Oh and any English-speaking vets from the Axis countries as well.

I would not like to see this extended past Vietnam. IMO it would be too hard to control. My concern is how we confirm that they are who they say they are.

Average age for Vietnam will be over 60years of age.

    Speaking of which:

Australia remembers in a documentary out on August 18th that commemorates the 40th anniversary of the battle of Long Tan on this date in 1966.

"Australia participated in the Vietnam War with about 8,000 soldiers, and suffered 423 killed in action, 2,398 wounded and 2 MIAs. The Royal Australian Regiment in Vung Tau area caused the Communist side more than 5,000 dead. In the famous battle at Long Tan, D Company of 6th Australian Battalion gunned down 245 enemy troops whose bodies were left around the company position. The company suffered 18 killed and 21 wounded."

One of the after effects of the battle was that the Americans decided that their tactics needed changed. Many individuals took on board the way the Anzacs fought the battle when engaging in their own little fights!

But both Long Tan and Fire Base Coral are two battles that the Aussies can be extremely proud of!

Fiver says Spidge gets there first. And i know I have asked this before, and it's probably getting a little old, but how's it looking for the RAF ranks? I ain't no square basher. :D

EDIT: Hellfire! I've just seen that Morse has made it as a MOD. Now I'll never outrank him! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

If my experience is anything to go by, R.A.f. bods will move slowly! Took me six hard years to make Corporal as a Fitter IIe, ...... Should have gone for cook or Snowdrop !!:(
