medal cards

    hi some of you may have read my royal ulster rifles post
    im also reseaching my grandad william eacott who served ww1 and ww2
    and i have found a world war 1 medal card for him but there are four william eacotts and you have to pay
    so can anyone tell me what the info is liable to be on a typical medal card
    can any one help?

    The Medal Index Cards for WW1 only state the soldier's medal entitlement and their military details (name, rank, number etc). It doesn't state any personal details, although for a few it shows home address. What else do you know about him?

    All those listed in the MICs on Ancestry below.

    I moved this to pre-war as it's WW1.

    hi paul not a lot died before i was born about the only thing i do know is that he was in the pioneers in ww2 and his possible addresss old church rd stepney

    Ok, but without any further details I suspect you won't be able to work out which one is him.

    Hi cubann,

    Have you got his marriage certificate, or birth certificates for his children. Sometimes if these events occured when a man was in service, they might give details of Regt or even Regtl No.

    A long shot but if you have no other source like WW1 medals themselves, or some paperwork, then it might be worth a go.

    Do you have any photos of your grandfather in uniform perhaps?
