Something we all have to face.
His 1st album was certainly an influence to my age group.

When I started my basic training at RAF Swinderby many moons ago, the chap next to me had an alarm clock radio/tape player and just two tapes. BOOH by Meatloaf and FTTSOL by Bonnie Tyler.

So for 6 LONG weeks, all I heard from next to me was Meatloaf and Bonnie Tyler.

I can't listen to Meatloaf now without thinking of having to polish everything within an inch of its life on the threat of watching my parade shoes disappear out the window.

I do recognise that he was a seriously good singer and a sad loss.

The baseball announcer in "Paradise by the Dashboard Light" is former Yankee great Phil Rizzuto, who called Yankee games for 40 yeas after he stopped playing.

Sad loss and a very great performer. Not too many people aged 55 and over and who like their music would not be aware of Bat Out Of Hell.

    Great sense of humour too:

I gave one of his albums to a girl in high school who I wanted to impress. It didn't work.

So the bat, if not from hell, at least from the laboratories of Wuhan finally caught up with him...

Yep, the big man is now toast!

He had a great sense of humour and even gave his band instructions that if he died on stage they should leave him there, and carry on playing "When the Saints..."
