Meaning of "Gtd RA HRM at Egypt Rates" (British Army WWII)

My father was in Egypt towards the end of WWII and I understand it says, here, in his Service Record, that he was granted the "Egypt Rate [of pay]". But what does "Gtd" mean? "Granted"?

Also, can "RA" mean anything apart from "Royal Artillery"? He was in the Intelligence Corps (FSS).

And what does "HRM" mean? It pops up in many places on the last page of his record.

Insight welcome. If I have a good grasp of the terms above, I should be able to finish the 1st part of the Service Record.

    Many thanks.

At a guess, could HRM be 'His Royal Majesty?" (the King?)

I'd say the A of the RA = allowance .
    I was thinking 'ration allowance'

First saw the abbreviation HRM on Dads service record 10 years ago, I have tried since then on this forum and others to find out what it means to no avail.
Hope somebody comes up with an answer soon!
    Fingers crossed.

I think HRM stand's for Higher Rate Messing, its on my Granddad's Record's.
Granted four day's Leave 02/03/45= 06/06/45 Palestine, whilst Serving with 2/7th Middlesex regiment

"B" Support Group, but ended up in rather hot water. I think I read it, in a post made by Wills but can't
    remember which one!

    Regards Stuart.

Further more to my last post, wrong month four day's= 02/03/45 - 06/03/45 incompetence with key board skill's.
I think Owen has it right with, R A= Ration Allowance. On a early page of my Granddad's service record 26/03/41-
22/12/41 he is granted leave on various date's. L.R Lower rate, or local. R A.
The acronym's are the other way round between the date's. 70th Border Regt. DREM. East Lothian!

    Regards Stuart.

I posted this up and am only replying now because I got busy doing other things, but thanks for all the information. I think we have got the meaning of "RA" and "Ration Allowance" sounds plausible. I take it "Gt" or "Grt" or "Gtd" would stand for "Grant [of]" or "Granted"; in my father's Service Records, it precedes the reference to "HRM". E.g.: "Gt HRM Egypt rates". Or: "Grt of RA HRM at Egypt rates".

Stuart, where do I get that reference to "HRM" you mention? I can see I am not the only one who has been foxed by this one! "Higher Rate Messing" would seem to be a good guess and would fit in with issues such as rates (of pay), rations, etc. I have tried searches for "Higher Rate Messing", also in books, through Google, and I have to say nothing comes up...

I do not think it would be "His Royal Majesty"; this would be, simply, "HR", I would have thought, as in "His Majesty", if you were dealing with some formal reference of this nature.

I am sorry but I cannot provide you with a scanned copy of the document: I only have a paper document and don't have a scanner at home.

    Many thanks.
