    Dear Friends,
War Diaries ( May 1940) from 4/Sussex speaks about their Bn. Hq in farm 018570 in Anzegem (Belgium), does anyone has an idea which map they used and which farm this is. I am quite familiar with the maps in 1918 and the British way of map reading. Example church of Anseghem ( modern spelling Anzegem)
    is 29 J 30 d 6.8. But this is quite different.
    With lots of thanks,
    Jef

Thank you so much guys. But I'm an old chap and have to search the link between 018570 and the coordinates as above. I don't see it right now, by the way I don't think the Sussex used google.
    Anyway thand you very much.
    Stay well and healthy,
    Jef

There is a set of 1:50,000 maps on the NLS website. These are dated 1943-44, but were drawn in 1938-39 and likely to have been used in 1940.
    Belgium - 1:50,000 - GSGS 4040 - 1943-44 - National Library of Scotland

Zoom in and you will see the map overlay then look for 018 570 in the usual way. The grid is a point 500m on the road ENE from the village. There is no building marked at this point, but this scale might not show individual buildings.

    Hello guys,
Thank you so much. A close friend of mine already sent such a map and I found 01 and 57 . So I was trying to find the link between 018570 and the point you already found.
I don't see it yet, but practice makes perfect.... isn't it.
    Again lotsof thanks.

    Dear Richard,
So I found the 01 and 57. When I devide the square in 10 equal parts horizontal and vertical I count 8 from left to right and 0 from under to up. So I become the number 018570 .
It feels quite unlogical. Will try to find another coordinate.
Again thank you and take care,
    Jef
By the way I know that place, I live in the area. As soon as the lockdown has ended will visit the place.

As far as I can tell, the grid ref puts the location in this field. Given that 6 figure grid references are supposed to be accurate to 100m (But that relies on the plotter being accurate when reading his map)
I would suggest the HQ was likely to be in the farm to the left of the pin?

That's quite possible. In october 1918 a lot of HQ's were in tents in the fields. Thank you for your answer.

We visit this area every year (not this year) for a race. There are Sussex graves in the local churchyard. The town is
    Gijzelbrechtegem
