Considered to be the largest US Military Cemetery, and it's located in Global City, Taguig, Metro Manila. Here will be found the final resting place for over 17,000+ military personnel and a memorial - Tablets of the Missing/Wall Of The Missing - containing 36,000+ names (engraved on limestone piers) of those with no known graves. Immaculately maintained and a welcome respite from the 'hectic world' beyond - a must-see for those visiting this capital city here in SE Asia. (note: 10 images attached) Manila American Cemetery | American Battle Monuments Commission My most-recent visit involved a number of private requests, 2 of which I'd like to share with you. The American 'Medal Of Honor' is our equivalent to the Victoria Cross and 28 men (8 burials and 20 names on the Tablets Of The Missing) are all commemorated in this one cemetery. Images of their grave markers/engraved names are now available. Medal Of Honor - Burials (8): Benjamin George JR. Boyce George W JR. Christensen Dale E. Johnson Leroy. Mower Charles E. (see image 03) Owens Robert Allen Thomas William H. Van Schaick Louis J. Medal Of Honor - Names engraved on the Tablets Of The Missing (20): Bauer Harold William. Bausell Lewis K. Gold paint is applied to the names of Medal Of Honor recipients. Video 1, taken from within the Memorial Court, can be viewed here: Another request was for the State Seals, which are engraved into the floor of the Tablets of The Missing. Images of these seals are now available. (see image 05) Twenty five huge mosaic maps - each one, in itself, a work-of-art - are also on display here. Images are available. Video 2, taken in one of the map rooms: (see image 06) p.s. has anyone produced a record/book on their original design and manufacture...? It's interesting to note that when a soldier's remains is discovered, his name is not erased from the Memorial and, instead, a small 'star' symbol is added to his name indicating to all that his remains have been discovered and reburied in proper manner.
