    November 11th 2017 and this post is In Memory of all those - military and civilians - who died in Malta during the course of WW2.

    The 10 images shown here represent The Second World War Siege Memorial and is dedicated to those c7000 who died during that particular period,1940-43. I'm informed that more bombs dropped on Malta, during this period, than on Britain during the Blitz, and for the first half of 1942, alone, there was only one 24 hour period which did not suffer an air raid attack!

    The bronze figure represents/symbolises the burial at sea of the unknown soldier.

    The bell was cast in England by John Taylor Founders in Loughborough.

    The inscription on the bell, relating to a latin verse, translates;
    ''You Cast Thy Shadow Upon My Head During The Time Of War 1940-1943''
