Although just post WWII I found 12 M6, HST's listed on Canadian Heritage CADR reel 12751 and on image 405 that on 9th June 1945 10 were issued to 61 Super Heavy Regiment, Royal Artillery. These being H5849538, 539, 543, 549, 551, 561, 562, 565, 822 and H5849823. Not sure if H6164822 and 823 were issued to 61 Super Heavy.

Anyone know if the M6 was ever used operationally by the British during WWII?

    Cheers

    3 Super Heavy Regiment. RA.

The regiment contained three batteries. Each battery had two sections and there was only one gun per section. Therefor the regiment had six guns. One battery had two 8” Howitzers and the other two each had two 240mm howitzers. Each section had 46 personnel. There were two Tractor Heavy High Speed M6 each towing a transport trailer, one with the gun barrel and one with the carriage. Each carried ten round of ammunition. Three Heavy Artillery Tractors each carried 15 rounds of ammunition.

    Hi Mike,

Thanks for that. I posted this thread link over on Maple Leaf Up Soft skin forum too so here is the original MLU post link.

M6 38-ton High-Speed Tractor in British use - MLU FORUM

There is a photo showing one census H6164827 and a couple of "British" M6's one has 262 with GHQ AoS. According to the post 61 and as you noted 3 Super Heavy did use these during WWII.
It would be nice to find the other census numbers.

    Cheers

Yes I have always admired his work. I just cannot work in the small scale as he does I am waiting for this to come out in 1/35th scale, something a little easier on my eyesight.

    Cheers
