Hello all, I wonder if anyone can help me track down information about the artist who painted a picture held at the RAF Museum Hendon, which I would like to use in a book I'm working on about the SOE. I could have put this in the SOE section, but I suspect the artist is/was an aviation artist. The painting shows a Lysander on the ground in France, picking up agents. It is signed 'L. Skipper", but I have not been able to identify this artist. I would very much like to locate the copyright holder of the painting, which would be the artist or his/her descendants. Does anyone have any clues? Many thanks, Peter Dixon
Hello Peter have you contacted Hendons fine art section Fine Art | Research | Collections | RAF Museum Paintings Royal Air Force Museum | Art UK Details of copyright regards Clive

Yes, that's the one. I've asked the RAFM curator, but they don't have any information about the artist. I'm just hoping that someone may have heard of L Skipper. Peter
Have you contacted the Arts council in the link looks like it was painted in the 1970s donated by Mrs Veronica Huntley, 2009
Thanks, both. Tim, yes it does look as if this is the same artist. I'll follow up. Clive, I'm being stupid - I can't see where it mentions Veronica Huntley. Peter
Hi, I'm looking for an L. R. Skipper, I have a woodland painting by an Artist of this name from 1973. I'd be grateful if you know anymore. If it's the same Artist, I believe he knew my father back then, I want him to know his work has been treasured all these years Sorry to resurrect an old thread
Saoirse, At the time, I was trying to make contact with Skipper's family/descendants to get permission to reproduce one of his paintings, of a Lysander night landing in France. I wanted the Skipper painting for a book on the Special Operations Executive, Guardians of Churchill's Secret Army. The painting hangs in the RAF Museum. I believe I did write a letter and ask the RAFM curator to forward it to the donor in the USA, but I never heard anything back. Having reached a dead end with Skipper, I used a Lysander photograph instead and the book was published in 2018 (https://getbook.at/Guardians). So I didn't take this further and it's been overtaken by events. Sorry I can't be of any help. Best wishes, Peter
