Hi, does anybody have access to the war diaries for the 1st Bn East Surrey, I am trying to find out the circumstances of death with regards to 186139 Lt Ian Kinnear Geddes who is listed a KIA on the 12 Nov 1942. Cheers, Rick
Not diaries, but answer here: "Lieut I K Geddes, the Intelligence Officer, had most unfortunately picked up an object which looked like a fountain pen but turned out to be a German anti-personnel bomb." http://www.queensroyalsurreys.org.uk/ww2/algiera_to_tunis/algiers_tunis002.shtml
Well spotted Cfficers of 1 Surreys in North African Campaign Report states that D W Fell died the next day, CWGC gives this as 13 November https://www.cwgc.org/find-war-dead/casualty/2151056/fell,-david-walton/
