LSD Testing on WW2 British Troops Video I was familiar with this kind of experimentation in the 60's. They said there would be flashbacks, I'm still waiting.
.... climbing trees to feed the birds? lol. I've seen this before but how true is it? Could it just be footage of soldiers having a laugh and somebody doing one of them daft voice overs or did the MOD really test this out?
I used this video in my NBC lessons along with another where Australians had Blister Agent sprayed on their hands and then were took on a Assault Course to see the effects. There's quite a few video's of this type out there including a guy called 'Uncle Festa' in New York I believe (he's certainly American) who shows you how to make Anthrax in your kitchen.
In my time there was a lot of activity at Porton Down.I remember volunteers being requested via SSO for the investigation into the common cold at Porton. Never entertained as there was more interesting things to do.It transpired that the tests were a cover for experiments into the effects of the nerve gas sarin on the human body.At least one airman died from the effects of the testing. During recruit training,we were given a background into the use of nerve gas and its effects, we were told that a US Marine Officer had been exposed to the gas for well over a minute but that was the maximum time the testing authorities would allow exposure.
if you are talking about drugs? You must be joking.....We knew nothing about them in those days The film's from the 60s Brian. They were looking for 'debilitating' agents to use on the battlefield. It followed on from a much larger American project where it was also evaluated as an interrogation tool... Though how useful someone rattling on about how nice the carpets are during an interrogation would be, I'm not sure. US Marine Officer had been exposed to the gas for well over a minute but that was the maximum time the testing authorities would allow exposure. I think any normal person would be 'break dancing' (See Halabja on google (Warning: There are some graphic images)) at that point assuming they were unlucky enough to still be alive. The nearest I got to anything like this was on the Kuwaiti Border in 2003 when Scud launches were detected and the NBC (Now CBRN) alarms sounded. One of the more disturbing parts of my tour. I guess the obvious experiments on soldiers etc would be the nuclear tests that have been mentioned before on here. A
Just from a medical point of view, those symptoms are not typical of LSD. Perhaps some other drug, but I doubt LSD. Doc
I dunno Doc, they look 100% like unexpected acid trippers in the woods to me. I believe the British tests were even called 'Operation Moneybags', as a play on 'LSD' (Pounds, Shillings & Pence shorthand of the time.) Whether that's apocryphal or not I've no real idea though. There's worse... Googling up a bit the Americans were doing it, the Soviets ditto, the French likewise, the Brits same thing... Loads of stuff on youtube. Now the Iranians plan to do their testing on the Is... oops!
In training all of us had to go into a tear gas cell without a mask. WE also had mustard gas put on our arms.... But after we had put on anti gas ointment.... The third gas we had, was a poison gas, that affected the throat and lungs. Not Nice. That had to be entered in your paybook ! Sapper
In Bari Italy there was an American ship carrying Mustard Gas - which was bombed - set on fire - it then bumped into an ammunition ship which blew up - around 3000 people died as a result of all the oxygen being pulled out of the atmosphere - this would approx November 1943... Cheers
French bread spiked with LSD in CIA experiment - Telegraph In 1951, a quiet, picturesque village in southern France was suddenly and mysteriously struck down with mass insanity and hallucinations. At least five people died, dozens were interned in asylums and hundreds afflicted. For decades it was assumed that the local bread had been unwittingly poisoned with a psychedelic mould. Now, however, an American investigative journalist has uncovered evidence suggesting the CIA peppered local food with the hallucinogenic drug LSD as part of a mind control experiment at the height of the Cold War ...
