    Hi Stu,
No please don't cut any maps etc. !
It the text of the words of the description of the action August 31sr 1944 that got a wee bit truncated.

Did you find that PhD thesis I mentioned - it was a great bit of work in my humble opinion.
    Cheers

Were you able to locate the PhD thesis on-line from the link I sent? A very well researched piece of work in my humble opinion.
    Cheers

Here is the memorial that I mentioned earlier which was taken whilst out in Italy on my own. The date being 29 June 2022. 6 Gordons have one just up the road in the town of Lavinio. I did take a few photos of it, and ( I've not a clue why they are more or less next door to each other.) Also, not the foggiest when the memorial of 2 North Staffs was presented to the hotel. Five minute walk between the two.:D

I think some veterans of the 2 North Staffs had something to do with it some years ago? Frank, more details please if you know? The hotel was going under a paint job when I found it. I walked passed it once down a narrow one-way street. The last place one would expect a memorial to be (make that two from 2 Infantry Brigade). The hotel is named below. Will edit in time what's not correct with address etc. The memorial is above the entrance to the hotel.

Allbergo La Sirenetta, Passeggiata della Sirene, Lavinio.

    Regards,
    Stu.

    Hi,

I stumbled across this thread and wondered if anyone had a general timeline of where this regiment was throughout the war?

my great grandfather was in this regiment and I’ve heard from my grandmother that he was in Italy and Greece and some point but that’s all I know, I’ve got his medals from the war and would love to know where he might’ve been especially as I now live in Italy myself.

my grandfathers name is W D Roper num 4699706
