Loss of Scrolling

Since updating to Windows 8.1, I find that the following problem occurs:

If I use he "go to first unread post" button, I am then unable to scroll [mouse wheel or side "Scroll bar"] up or down the thread.
If I use the thread title or a particular page link the above scrolling works fine.

I presume that this is because of some or Windows security setting in Windows Explorer but I did not have any problem when using Windows 8.0.
Any ideas where I should look?

That's a strange one as it seems pretty specific. Do you still lose the scroll function when you press (click) down on the wheel instead of turning it? All I can think is to check your mouses program to see if there is anything in settings that might be different from default. Also checking to see it occurs with another browser will narrow it down to being a problem associated solely with Internet Explorer.

Sorry I can't think of anything else at this time.

    Regards ...

I have the same problem as Noel, but bizarrely, it comes and goes.

I don't use a mouse, I use the pad or arrows on my laptops keyboard.

Sometimes I can overcome the problem by "dragging" the bar up or down, but other times this will not work either.

My mouse wheel has never worked. Apart from clicking it down then moving mouse up & down.
That's how I scroll up & down too.
That & the up & down arrow keys.

Still use XP. Know all the ins and outs. and do not intent to participate in Microsoft's rat race.

    :) Perfectly content!!

Thanks for the replies - having a sneaky peek at work where Windows 7 seems to scroll just fine and, as I said, I did not have the problem (using same kit) with Windows 8.0; I don't have this problem with other Forums which I regularly visit but I am sure they use different Forum Software.

Just though I would let you know that this problem has disappeared of it's own accord after four weeks of frustration.
