    Hi all,

I was looking at this photo in the Canadian archives and realized I have no idea why there are these half-loops on top of this 17-pounder's gun shield. A local addition? I don't see them in other photos.

Early fittings to break up the shape of the shield/ hang camouflage.

I was going to mention it breaks up the hard straight line of the top of the gunshield.

See similar on the 6 pounder's wavey top.

I know this is an old thread but yes, it is to break up the hard line but there was a Mod issued to remove them as it was found better to stick foliage in the gap between the shields instead. Later production eliminated the strip.
