    Hello!

As the topic suggests i'm looking for a recount/first person account of a WW2 experience. I know that many many people have made accounts of their ww2 experiences, but i'm looking for one that is honest, well written and would be touching to an audience. So far i've had no luck looking on google and others, most of the time i only get companies trying to sell me the books which i can't buy.

Does anyone have, or know a website with a good account? I'm pretty sure there must be a well known one but i can't seem to find one anywhere. This is for a speech that is due pretty soon, within the next week, and this is all i need to complete it. If anyone could help me i'd really really apreciate it!

Here's a very, very good account of a British Normandy veteran from Royal Engineers. Very touching, as well as well written. Sword Beach to Bremen ;)

By common consent one of the most moving first-hand accounts I have ever used on one of my school battlefields tours is the description of the heroic but doomed RAF supply drop in Major Geoffrey Powell's 'Men At Arnhem' (originally published under the pseudonym 'Tom Angus'). We read it out at the Air Dispatchers' Memorial at Oosterbeek in October 2003 and I used it again in the school Remembrance Day service on 11th November. I can e-mail you the version I used if you like.

Thanks guys, these are much appreciated! I'm not quite sure how some of these will fit in my speech yet, i have to read them a bit more carefully yet.

Mark, that account you mentioned actually souns really good, could you send it to me by e mail? I think this place allows you to send e mails through it i think. It sounds really touching, even if i don't use it i would like to read it.

I have the priviledge of being friends with Gordon Winter who was a Wo/Air Gunner in 241 Squadron and was on that mission. He attends the Memorial at Down Ampney every year.

Perhaps my site may be of interest, if it is not too late. See:
