    Hi everyone again,

You may have seen my other post about George Stanley ("Sonny") Hall.
I just want to say thank you to everyone for your help. I now have information regarding his birth, death and service time. However, I am still lacking a photo.

This time I am searching for information regarding another individual.

The information I know will be listed below: (I got this information from my granddad, George [or Ernest] was my great-granddad.)
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Name: George Ernest Williams [or] Ernest George Williams
Mothers name: Lotte (maiden name unknown)

My granddad told me he was a Staff Sergeant (I really do not know how accurate this information is though)
Born: ?/?/1920 (give or take a few years)
    Lived in North London
    He also survived the war.

Additional Info: He had a German Shepard which had to be put down after the war because it only accepted orders from him.
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I know this is not a lot of information but this is all i know.

If anyone has any additional information please leave a reply!
    Thank you!

    Hi, thanks for replying,
He probably would have lived in islington before the war but I do not know where. He lived in mildmay (something like that) after the war.
    Cheers,

    I have found this:

ERNEST GEORGE WILLIAMS married LOTTIE E MINETT at Croyden in the 3rd Quarter of 1918.

If this is your Great grandfather, he would have most likely seen service in the 1st World War.

If you can give more details of other family members it will help.

Just to save others making searches I believe the info has been sent to Jsavage00 via PM

    Can this be confirmed?

    TD

    edited to add:
As that info includes his death cert (I believe) you could apply for his service records

I dont think the information is correct as the mothers maiden name is/was Minett.

There are 2 Alfreds, I can only assume at this time, as I have not checked further that Alfred b 1921, died at an early age i.e. before his namesake was born in 1924

    TD,

Thats my great-great-grandfather and his wife (my great-grandfathers mum).
I think that was just a spelling error.
    So yeah, they're his parents.
    Any information about his son?
    Cheers,
    Jsavage00

Their children I believe are as posted in post 9 above. As you will see there is not a George unless it is a middle name for one of them that they preferred to their first given name.

I think you may need to take all the info here and draw up some form of family tree to see if it fits or not with any and all the info you have or if its possible to glean more details from others in the family, photos in dusty boxes, letters etc etc

    edited to add:

The reason I suggest that is that the only George E Williams born in Islington 1920 has a mother whose maiden name is 'Dolling'

    Name: George E Williams
    Mother's Maiden Surname: Dolling
    Date of Registration: Apr-May-Jun 1920
    Registration district: Islington
    Inferred County: Greater London
    Volume Number: 1b
    Page Number: 377

the above details would tie in with a death cert (if he died in the year stated)

    Name: George Ernest Williams
    Birth Date: 21 May 1920
    Date of Registration: Mar 1992
    Age at Death: 71
    Registration district: Islington
    Inferred County: London
    Volume: 13
    Page: 1491

    TD,
It must be a transcription error, FMP records show Williams searched from the Minett surname.

I have been trying variants of Minett in the hope that has been transcribed wrong on the birth record.

i dont think whitbourn is a name within the family.

    Edited to add:

How will I know if there was a whitbourn in the family because my grandfathers memory is no good and there is no one else who to ask.
