    Hi all,
I am intending to visit the LMA some time over the next couple of weeks and have a question and an offer:

Has anyone visited this Archive recently and can you offer any general advice or tips for research there? I will be looking specifically for Gas Company records and publications in relation to the 'Mystery Plaque' thread.

If anyone has any research I can do for them while I am there I will be happy to try and help.

I know that sadly Mike is no longer with us, but has anybody else any experience of visiting the London Metropolitan Archive?

I've discovered that they hold the records of a rubber plantation in Malaya that I would like to investigate, but the records aren't digitised and I can't find any mention of whether photography is permitted on their site.

I understand they hold a considerable number of LCC school registers / rolls for the late 19th and early 20th centuary.
Any tips would be appreciated, particularly on whether photography is an option.

    Hi,
It looks like you can use your camera there for a fee of £5 per day.

I would be interested to hear how you get on there if you do visit.

    Regards

    Danny

Plan your visit to London Metropolitan Archives (LMA) - City of London

    Self service photography

LMA allows users to bring their own cameras to take pictures of documents only if they obtain a self service photography permit which is valid for one day. A charge of £5 is payable per day for the permit which allows the use of digital and traditional cameras. You will need to complete an application form (obtainable at time of purchase of permit) and comply with all listed conditions before using the service.

11.You may not film in LMA without permission.

12.You may not take photographs of archive documents unless you have paid a photography permit fee and signed a copyright declaration. Some collections are subject to further restrictions. Please consult staff for further details.

    Clearly I can't read--I didn't spot that text anywhere.

    Thank you.
