Working on Lists of Camps myself with specified dates and Camp Commanders at the time.

Camps opened, closed, changed locations and Commanders over the years 1940 - 1947.

Location of P.O.W camps in Great Britain, also has some intresting information on war criminal suspects screening and interrogation and a link to German P.O.W camps. http://www.islandfarm.fsnet.co.uk/LIST%20OF%20UK%20POW%20CAMPS2.htm

This site has some great photos of the captured German hierarchy.

The site has been around for many years and is a great source of information.

Thanks for bringing it back to the top.

    Cheers

    How big is your list?

Is there any information on how many Axis POW's remained in Britain after WW2?

    Cheers

Geoff one list being worked on is for the period 1945 to 1947 but does not indicate Nos.of prisoners. Those will be in Files at Kew.
What is being noted is type of Camp. Base, Work Btn, Work Company, Artisan Coy and some other Types.
There was even one for Italians on land at the side of what is now The National Archives.

I have an interesting File containing the Personal Profiles and photos of Captive German Generals.
Some attached comments are quite amusing

The Island Farm project is fantastic and is a credit to those involved. Hopefully the Website will continue to grow.
