Hi, I am trying to find my uncle's military history. Henry, born Jan 1927, served in the Black Watch, Royal Highlanders in Singapore and Malaysia. I have tried findmypast, ancestry and forces war records unsuccessfully. Are there other places I should try or a process I should be following with national archive or similar body? All suggestions are greatly appreciated. Many thanks Tony
As Robert suggested apply for his service records from the government source Do not pay for any site on the internet who only give you false hope of his records they do not have them and you will be lighter in your pocket once you get them post on here and forum members will help you further Then you can apply for the war diaries a couple of members on here offer a copy service at reasonable rates
Hi, Given his DOB it is unlikely he has active service during WW2 - albeit he may be entitled to War Medal - but he may have seen active service during the Malaya Emergency. I think Malaya Medal roll may be on Ancestry if I remember correctly. If you post his army number a member may turn up his entry. Steve
