I'm sure there was a thread on here that listed these, perhaps with a map indicating where they are? Any help greatly appreciated.
http://www.infromthecold.org/war_grave_cemeteries.asp Should do it. Click on the green marker to get lat/lon data.
if you have never been you will be amazed by the amount. tip 1: CWGC web site names, regiments, location in cemetery/graveyard., map, short description of directions. tip 2: if going to a few, plan your trip. tip 3: forget 2!! tip 4: get sat nav, then go onto custom downloads www.poigraves.uk, you can either search for individual places or drive along and names come up with arrows pointing direction and distance. we tried following as they came up ended going in circles . tip 5: if you have a written agenda / make notes where you want to go, and a compass is useful for cwgc plot in East corner of Cemetery etc. tip 6: go again !!
Pure Collector is valuable aid without doubt to locate all cemeteries As regards France, the Michelin Atlas Routier et Touristique 1...200000 scale is a good aid for motoring in France and for locating cemeteries...many in Northern France are indicated.I prefer the original A3 size and the A4 size, a recent development, although fitting a glove compartment has too many pages to facilitate a decent overview. Prefer maps to the Sat Nav...on a Spanish holiday we ended up on a disused roundabout...the problem being that the coastal road was being continually upgraded and the Sat Nav hadn't.
Got it already mate-Was just trying to plan for specific 1940 cemeteries I haven't already been to. I've now got a list of 33 to visit while I'm over there-Andrea will be really excited about that
Probably a lot out of date, incomplete and done by hideous page scraping The link I gave has searches on country and region and also gives the satnav download link
Andy, Go to the BEF Casualties 1940 thread I started a while ago and it has pdfs for casualties in Belgium and France. Can't seem to copy and paste a link from the computer I'm currently using. You can compare the cemeteries you've been to against the ones you have not. Cheers Rob
War Cemeteries GPS File. Info at: http://www.ww2f.com/topic/11052-war-cemeteries-gps-file/ - War_Cemeteries.zip The following are the sites I use for individual casualty searches for mostly RAF casualties... But I could sure use more good leads: France: http://francecrashes39-45.net/ Denmark: http://www.airmen.dk/ Netherlands (one of my favorite research tools) http://www.polishwargraves.nl/info/cmt.htm Polish: http://www.polishairforce.pl/menucmentarze.html and: http://niebieskaeskadra.pl/?control=2 (Scroll down to the photos of the airmen and click on "more..". - The only problem is that you must know the airman's name (or at least the first part of it) and use Polish accented characters.)
Off topic aside: Somebody is having exactly that same problem on http://www.ww2f.com/ There are definitely some technical (coding) glitches on our forums, provided by http://www.invisionpower.com/
