    Hi All,

Sometime ago I asked whether anyone knew of the Liddington Force - Dad served in the AIF - and it has been a mystery to everyone whom I have spoken to.

Today I found out - The Liddington Force was an administrative code name given to the major part of the 9th Division (A total of 6239 personnel) which returned from the Middle East in late January 1942. The force sailed on 5 vessels with the L prefix codes 4 disembarked in Sydney and one L4 "the Neiuw Amsterdam" which disembarked in Melbourne, Australia.

I owe the above to LT COL Neil Smith AM of Mostly Unsung Military History.

Another problem bites the dust - now I can go back to WW1 to continue my search for my elusive grandfather. :P

    Regards
    Dee
