On Friday and Saturday, I visited the NARA II, College Park, MD. I found and scanned this U.S. Army Signal Corps photo, which may be of interest to some folks here. The caption reads: "Part of the 120 British, Scotch, New Zealand and Canadian prisoners liberated by the 6th Armored Division's attack on Lengefeld, Germany. German guards fled as the armored unit moved into the town." Date: 4 April 1945 Photographer: T/5 Louis G. Crabtree, 166 SPC III-SC 387097, Credit NARA. The image is resized for this forum. If anyone would like a high-res copy, just let me know. Dave
Superb photo, almost characatures of British officers, pipes & tasches. ' I say old chap, the bally Germans have done a runner & the jolly old Yanks are here, what!'
