Snow over here, hope it clears quickly as we have pistol practice tomorrow and prefure a nice outside tempature!
Owen, I had switched the computer on and She who must be obeyed shouted that I had to get my warm clothes on and come outside immediately. I then found out that we were invited to an Ice Bar Party with the neighbours. A neighbours son had cleared the parking area of snow and besides building a snowman with my daughters he and his mother had later built an Ice Bar. I have just enjoyed an hour of hot fortified drinks as well as the normal liquor and just had to take a picture or two. Unfortunately I have no other pictures of the snow this year but it is forecast again either overnight or tomorrow, so I will take some for you. You will just have to content yourself with three pictures of the Ice Bar this evening. The picture with three in is my neigbour Petra on the left, my youngest daughter, Maren in the middle and my better half, Anja, on the right. Regards Tom
Owen, Your welcome, post more snow pictures when I can. The neighbours have said it may be a regular feature having the impromptu parties. It really went down well with all of us. Normally it is Birthdays where we have outdoor picnics and grills! Regards Tom
The weather people have changed their minds and the next snow to fall is going to be delayed a day or so. Just to keep you interested I visited the Berlin CWGC this morning and took some shots of the cemetery under some snow, before it melts. Normally we only see shots of cemeteries in good weather conditions and so I thought that this would make a pleasant change. The wreaths from Remembrance Sunday looked well with the snow covering. As you can see the roads are well cleared, except the service road! Regards Tom
Cheers Tom, I see england phil was there on Thursday. See post #7 http://www.ww2talk.com/forum/war-cemeteries-war-memorial-research/4974-berlin-war-cemetery.html
Lucky we went shooting at Apeldoorn Willem III barracks in the shoothing cellar, so no snow and cold, at the moment the stuff is melting.
It is snowing again here in Berlin, but due to the conditions it is not sticking at the moment. I walked over to the Weihnacht Markt (Christmas Market/Fair) and took a few photos. Obviously due to the time and weather not many in attendance. Evenings and Weekends you have to play Sardines! The first thumbnail is taken in Charlottenburg outside the RBL Berlin branch. The second is a view from my front door. All the remainder are of the Spandau Weihnacht Markt Hope you enjoy them. Regards Tom
Gotthard, I live just about as much west as you can in Berlin, at Staaken, which is part of Spandau. If I walk a few hundred yards North along our street, I enter Falkensee in Brandenburg. Regards Tom
In order for the Bookies to pay out on a White Christmas in Ireland, there must be 1 inch of snow at the Weatehr Station at Dublin Airport! That is how a "White Christmas" is defined in Dublin.
Thanks for the pix, Tom. Wait and see if I wake up to a good covering of snow in the morning. It might make getting to work difficult.
Well it's snowing like you wouldn't believe here in Lincolnshire. It started as rain and has settled on top. If it snows all night, it will be well deep tomorrow.
