After looking back at my Normandy album from 2005 I thought I'd ask the newer batch of members if they have any info on the action of Regiment de Maisonneuve on 13th August 1944.
I took a photo of this memorial on the bridge there.
Next to it was a flowerbed of the Canadian flag.

    Owen,
Keep that Canadian stuff coming. Great post...thanks.

Regiment de Maisoneuve was part of the 2nd Canadian Division.
Based on the date of 13th August, 1944 it looks like it was the end of Operation Totalize and the start of Operation Tractable.
I'll see if I can locate something on the CMHQ records and get back to you.

    Cheers
    Randy

Just looking for something else, saw this map so thought I'd post here.

HyperWar: The Victory Campaign [Chapter 10]

The advance was led by the 4th Infantry Brigade with the 8th Reconnaissance Regiment and the 27th Armoured Regiment under command. Barbery was reached during the night 11-12 August and the following morning the forward troops were on the high ground overlooking Moulines. These advances had cost some casualties, and more were suffered before The Royal Regiment of Canada captured Moulines, which was accomplished by last light on the 12th. Further progress was made next day; the 5th Brigade passed through the 4th, and The Calgary Highlanders, supported by artillery, established a small bridgehead on the east bank of the Laize at Clair Tizon. This was a decided threat to the main German position on the Falaise road; but when Le RĂ©giment de Maisonneuve attempted to expand it on the evening of 13 August it was driven back with heavy loss by the Germans holding the commanding heights east of the river

While adding details of the RĂ©giment de Maisonneuve to the Normandy animation, I believe their August 11 diary entry is a day early and should be August 12. Please correct me if I am wrong. Link to the R de Maisonneuve animation. Several diary entries confirm they followed other units until crossing the river at CLAIR TIZON on August 13. The rest of the Brigade didn't push south until the 12th.

I would agree that the diary is in error.

    From the Calgary Highlanders:

"On the evening of the 13th, Le Regiment de Maisonneuve attacked south through the bridgehead towards Le Chesnaie, but were repulsed from the high ground east of Clair Tison. A second attack through the Highlanders by the 6th Canadian Brigade managed to secure a bridgehead over the Laise River, taking high ground at La Cressonierre, on a ridge overlooking the Laise Valley. This assisted the forward movement of II Canadian Corps, and again put the Highlanders behind the front."
