A friend bought this item at a fayre about 20 years ago and would like to trace its former owner - OK a long shot but, on this Forum, never say never.

I'm assuming it reads as per title of this thread.

    Morning all,

Michel provides a lot of useful information on the other thread, and the photo there suggests that at Normandy 413 was a ‘regular’ Mk III LCT. In the artwork above, the E indicates Emergency Repair, a modification made to a handful of LCTs for service in the Far East (LCT 7074 in Portsmouth underwent a similar modification).

The modification programme began in early ‘44, but as 413 appears to have been in regular service at Normandy I suspect this item post dates D-Day, and the crew will have been different. When I have time I’ll see what I have in my records that might shed more light on when she was converted (a quick check appears to confirm that she was designated an LCT(E)).

    Cheers,
    Steve

  5. And continuing from Danny's list, LCT 413 finally retired from the Royal Navy in 1966 [Edit:] 1965:

"MRC 1023(ex-LCT 1054) & MRC 1413 (ex-LCT 413) repair ships sold to V. Bezzina (Malta) early November. Same man bought tug EXHORTER (c. Dec. 1963) which is still laid up unused."

Thanks chaps. It must have had quite a lot of different crews in what amounts to a 22+ years life!

As it’s a po badge below, I’m guessing one of the petty officers who served made it
As it’s a kings crown time frame is 1945-51
