I've come across one of these mentioned in my convoy listing for my grandfather as he travelled between Africa and italy, I'm Curious to find out how they varied from a normal LCI, does anyone have any photos or drawings of one?
Cheers mike your a star I hate to be cheaky but do you have any for the liberty ships? Canadian, British and American?
A well preserved Liberty Ship. Jeremiah O'Brien. British and Canadian Forts and Oceans were slightly different but sufficiently similar as to be all classed together for planning purposes. Mike
The Ocean class is to all intents the same as the Parks and Forts. The John W Brown is a Liberty modified to carry troops. The British designed and built Empire Liberty is the mother of them all. Does anyone have a drawing of the US built Empire Anvil class of LSI(L) merchant ships, that I could reproduce in the book? Roy
Nice drawings and a great photo from an unusual angle. You usually see sides and front. If you come across plans for an Empire weapon LSI I could make a 1:300 scale model. Try this for a drawing. drawings.usmaritimecommission.de. or Google Outboard profiles of Maritime Commission designed vessels. Nice drawings but could be copyright. Mike
Mike, Thanks for the reply. I should have said that the drawings are from the book Workhorse of the Fleet by Gus Bourneuf Jr and published by the American Bureau of Shipping - it is online. ABS provided the copies and gave me permission to use the three plans and five pictures that I asked for, without charge. A couple more attached, I have identified . I bet no British setup would be that helpful! Roy
The best pictures of 'British' standard built ships I have seen. I like the Liberty, MTS 225, unloading onto a Rhino Ferry. Pity it is American but apart from the trucks the British MTS and Rhino would be identical. Mike
I was pleased that they let me use them. The MT225 is, of course, the EDWIN ABBEY. I intend to put the attached picture of MT6 the SAMAROVSK on the same page, loading in London, off-loading at Omaha. The second pic is IWM copyright, so I will have to pay for that. Roy

Hi all, I'm working with a team to try to identify a wreck, it could be a LCI(L), LCT(2) or LCT(4). There's not much left, just the bottom of the hull, so I'm after some ship's plans with some detailed measurements to help align some of the frames, fitting etc. You'd be right to think there are obvious differences but after 74 years underwater and heavy salvage there's little to go on. We've tried National Archives and looking online at the Greenwich catalogue, but if anyone can help with some detailed schematics that would be fantastic. Fingers crossed.
