Hello, I am looking for information and a photo of Lance Corporal Sidney George Hoskins (1623195) 12th Battalion Parachute Regiment (10th Battalion The Green Howards [Yorkshire Regiment]) 6 Platoon, B Coy.
His unit belonged to the 6th Airborne Division. He died of his wounds on March 28, 1945 in the Haus Hall military hospital in Gescher. He took part in Operation Varsity and was captured and taken to the military hospital in Gescher. After the war he was reburied in the British military cemetery in Kleve. Are there any documents showing what exactly happened to him? I am very grateful for any information.

    Best regards

Originally enlisted into the Royal Artillery in 1940. There will be attestation card for him (more info?) but no photograph .

Maybe Paradata have the War Diaries for his unit and looking at around the day he died it may help tell you what the unit was doing where it was and what was happening.

Is it known if the hospital was German or British ?

It was a German military hospital. The 2. / Kriegslazarettabteilung (mot) 613 was located at Haus Hall in Gescher and in the castle of Velen.

The service number is a Royal Artillery enlistment number . He does have an attestation card, its on Findmypast . If he died as a PoW perhaps he has a surviving German PoW Card as well ? These are at the National Archives under WO 416 . They havent finished cataloging them all but `some` have photographs attached ?
