The standard machine gun on the Lancaster was the Browning .303 gun. This was the specification on the Mark I and Mark II. A few Mark IIIs had experimental Martin and Rose turrets and under defence turrets with.5 inch machine guns.

The Lancaster Mark VII from April 1945 was equipped with Martin mid upper turrets with Browning 2x.5 inch guns as standard.Browning 2x.303 guns in Fraser Nash turrets were installed in the nose while 2x.5 inch Brownings were fitted in the Fraser Nash rear turret.

The Lincoln Mark I ( Lancaster Mark IV) had both .303 inch and .5 inch guns.

The Lincoln Mark II ( Lancaster Mark V ) had both .5 inch and 20mm guns but in later service the aircraft was left with.5 inch Brownings. The 2x20mm Hispano cannons being removed from, and as was the mid upper turret.

Could the 13mm cartridge be mistaken for a Lancaster .5 inch round.?

Given the specification of the Lancaster Marks, the 20mm cartridge, if it came from a Lancaster "generation" aircraft, that aircraft could be only a Lincoln Mark II.

lets not forget that there were fighter aircraft such as the Airacobra, Beaufighter VIF, Various marks of Mosquito and other who carried both .303 and 20mm weapons
