Can anyone tell me what an 'L.S. & Y.C Badge' is?

I'm researching Richard Kelner Williams' time in 1st Air Landing Squadron (April to July 1942) and his service and casualty form says he was "Granted 1st L.S. & Y.C Badge" on 21st June 1942.

Yes -it could be a G and not a C. How long before a soldier got this? Richard Kelner Williams joined up in June 1940 so by 1942 he'd been in the army for two years.
The record says 1942 but same signature as Captain in February 1943 (when Dick Williams was in 43rd Reconnaissance). Could it have been awarded retrospectively?

Photo attached is page 2 of his service record - badge mentioned 2nd line from bottom.

Volume 1 covers Uniforms, Insignia and Equipment
