Saw this memorial to the crew in Helsinki's Hietaniemi cemetery. I posted it on another thread but thought I'd start one on it specifically. Bit of history of the ship here. MV Königin Luise (1934) – Wikipedia If anyone wishes to add more, please do.
In (very) short form : After laying mines, the ship, under Kapitänleutnant Wünning, ran into a Soviet mine on her way back after discharging the Finnish minesweeping escort near Helsinki on 25 September 1941 and sank within a few minutes. Forty sailors were killed. The high death toll was partly a result of the immediate failure of the ship's radio system after the mine hit, which prevented help from being called immediately. https://www.wrecksite.eu/wreck.aspx?136342
