    Hi everybody,
i am completely new on this forum and saw already lots of interesting topics for reading the next days.

I entered mainly because I am looking for information about a british service number.
I cant find anything on google so i try it here.

I have a 2nd pattern fairbairn sykes knife and on the sheat is, what I think, a service number. it would of course be great if i could find some information about the previous owner. Was it a commando, a paratrooper, his name etc.

The number FK 70259 is cut in the leather sheat. (picturewill follow).

As I said, I cant find anything. Not what FK stands for and also 5-digit service numbers are not found. Maybe officers number?

Please, if anybody has some informations tips, post them.

    im very curious!

    All the best, Raf (Netherlands)

    Hi

FK could be "Fighting Knife" and then the makers serial number rather than the particular soldiers service number.

Don't know? Just thinking out loud

    Best regards

    Old Bill

Hello. My dad was in No.4 ... and had to give his knife in (same style) ... if you ever fancy selling it, remember me please! ;)

I'm sure there are folk on here who can help - the above sounds right - but there's the Commando Veteran's Forum online or the Commando Veteran's Association on Facebook too

How did you get the knife?

Yes. He was billeted with a family in, I think, Kamperland during the liberation of Flushing. My aim is to get over there in November 2014 and I'd love to meet up with someone from that family. No, I can't remember their name! :D

I look forward to seeing the photograph.
