    Folks,
I was looking around a Second World War Soldiers Shelter recently and among the various graffiti I found
    "KINGS REG
    MARTIN.J.
    CARLISLE"

I know that the Kings Regiment was formed after WW2. There is a date written above but it is illegible.

I am hoping that someone here will have a connection to Kings Regiment or Martin Family from Carlisle.

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Andy.

    Hi,

He Was more likely with Kings Liverpool Regiment.

I presume you are making the assumption that he was Kings Own Royal Border Regiment given his Carlisle address but as you say they weren’t created until 1959.

King's Liverpool and the Manchester's amalgamated and became the King's Regiment in September 1958. I am of course biased here, but generally speaking, any reference to the King's in WW2, normally was reference to the King's Liverpool Regiment.

    So this could be WW2.

    Much Appreciated.

    Thank-you.
