    hi All,

I am trying to find some information on my 2nd cousin 52064 Major Norman Brayford Scott who served pre war in the TA with 1 of the Staffordshire Regiments & was to join the Royal Signal Corps for service with the BEF in 1940. Norman was KIA/DOW on the 27th May 1940 & is buried in Nine Elms Cemetary. his CWGc entry states that he was MID.

Presumably he was buried near to where he died & I was wondering if anyone has any knowledge on Sigs deployments in the area surrounding nine elms. as there were only 22 WW2 burials there, I am assuming that there was an action close by to Poperinge, West-Vlaanderen as opposed to say a CCS.

Any information would be greatly appreciated

    Regards

    simon

Have you tried asking for information at The Staff's Regimental Museum at Whittington Barracks near Lichfield (very near to where I used to live)? Otherwise you you could always try the Royal Sigs museum in Blandford (very near to where I now live).

    Simon,
To get more details of his service, you could apply for a copy of his records - DOD over the 25 year limit so no consent from next of kin need be sought. A copy of his CWGC certificate will be all that's needed to prove date of death.
