Im off work sick so this is a good chance to catch up on those models getting left in the back of the cupboard.

ive a nice KFZ 7 halftrack, struggling a bit with colour schemes, my other half tracks are yellow and white so i fancy something different. Id quite like to get an 88 to go with it so.

is this panzer grey, matt black seats and canvas roof. What colour should the 88 be?

Any German colour scheme you like for it and the gun Kev, Ubiquitous across nearly all German combat zones (maybe a Spanish scheme? they had 'em till quite long after the war. If you can find a decent picture... I can't, and I've looked for ages.)
Check out Tanxheaven for at least one scheme with interior details too.

That top shot's a lovely one.

(by the way, it's definitely an Sd.Kfz., certainly something 'sonder' about it. ;))

Some real gems on that thread isn't there?
Seeing them in colour makes the war sem more recent.
Panzer grey isn't totally matt is it? Quite a few of those vehicles have some shine on them.
I don't just mean that one in the rain.
See the armoured column on page one.

KFZ, you found a gold mine! Oldtimer gallery. Trucks. Cars. Motorcycles.

The introduction is lovely, though

Something comical about the kfz7 looks like there all out for coach ride in the country, like a little coach tour..

When new German vehicles (including the Sd.Kfz.7) were under evaluation at Kummersdorf part of the trial process was "Germany Trips" where convoys of new vehicles were taken for long rambling drives around the country for several days or weeks.

Very popular with the testing staff, I have some pictures of these trips & they look like 1930's factory outings, smiles all round and stops at pubs and places of interest but instead of a charabanc there's several different halftracks, a tank or two and assorted other military gear.

Making this model, one thing that stands out is how big a vehicle this is, its like a coach, the track run is enormas.

Here a good pic of a sdkfz7 next to a Hanomag.
