In today's Sunday Times Culture supplement there was this article about a pop group back on the road after 15 years. I would probably not even have bothered to read the article were it not for the fact that my eyes were drawn to a chap called Mick Jones who was wearing a rack of WW2 medals that I have reason to believe he is not entitled to. Or is he ? If he is, I wish he'd sell me a bottle of whatever he drinks to keep so young Ron
Never heard of 'em, and now I have I wish I hadn't. Quick look at their Wiki page shows the best chart place for a single is 11 and most singles are 80s/90s position. Just out to cause controversy to gain publicity I reckon. I also reckon wearing medals you are not entitled to should be a criminal offence, anyone fancy getting a petition up to make it happen?
Isn't it an offence to wear medals you are not entitled to? If it is already an offence who do we report it to?? And would anyone take notice???
they are from the Seventies and always dressed like that Bad Company - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Wrong Band Clive. BAD was indeed 80s , I saw them in Bristol . Mick Jones is ex-Clash.

FROM BBC SITE; It's illegal if the intention is to deceive, to pretend to be member of armed forces, or a veteran It's an offence under the soon-to-be superseded Army Act of 1955 Mmmm, he doesn't seem to be aiming to deceive, wonder what the law that supersedes the army act 1955 is?
Let's hound this dangerous individual too, for being an 18th century pirate hussar Indian brave highwayman impersonator: It's only Rock & Roll...
Peter Thanks for that, saved me looking him up and yes, born in '55 and therefore clearly not entitled to be so attired. Adam I note your comment: It's only Rock & Roll... and think I can understand your tongue in cheek comment but.................................. May I in turn pose you a question. ? If the same Mick Jones were (perish the thought !) to join this forum and immediately after use an avatar that said "Moderator" and perhaps gave himself a line of green "thingies" to complete the picture would you ban him from the forum or simply say "It's only Rock & Roll ? I would further ask you "Is there such a thing as accepted norms ?" Puzzled, from Cockfosters.
It's all so old hat. Sid Vicious used to wear a Nazi punk stuff in 70s. The wearing of medals caused a fuss in the 80s with certain band members wearing them Here an old pic of The Clash from 1978. I'm assuming the medals here are but a reference to Jones's grizzled and battle-scarred career in the trenches of Rock. A veteran of that particular sphere if ever there was one. Militaristic references in music & fashion ain't new, I imagine it'd take a very short while to compile a heap of chaps wearing odds and sods of uniforms and militaria: I'm not entirely sure this lady is properly attired, she should probably do her buttons up:

If anyone came on here pretending to be a moderator, we'd know wouldn't we? And have a right good laugh about it too no doubt. I'd much rather save my outrage for the criminal who e.g. beats up and robs OAPs for their poppy collection, or who burgles a house and steals medals to flog for a few quid. In the scheme of things, this sort of nonsense just doesn't rate on my personal ire-o-meter.
