Three Fw200 aircraft were converted by addition of two extra fuel tanks to afford a range of 5,000 statute miles known as the Fw200K. All three were

flown by 2 versuchsverband b.d.L under Abwher command, in civilian Deutsch Luft Hansa markings

One of these was Fw200 V4 werke nmr.200 0001 (first production Fw200 B1) which after a take off mishap at Jever in November 1939 as BS+AF, was

converted to Fw200 K1 and re-registered D-ACWG. Two sister craft were also converted to Fw200K and registered as D-AIIN plus D-ANVI.

ObLt Wolfang Nebel and RLM navigator FKpt Vogel (later both associated with long range flights of the Me-264) operated Fw200K missions to Harbin

Manchuria. When the OSS parachuted team Flamingo into Harbin on VJ day +1 Allied prisoners liberated there told them of regular sightings of German Fw200 aircraft at Harbin.

    Regarding this...

    ...and this -

The City of New York had offered an operators' licence to whoever could run a regular mail route across the Atlantic as a way of encouraging the route into NYC; any carrier had to carrier passengers as well...

Unfortunately, the Condor at that time could only make the trip with a minimal amount of mail on board and a crew of three and no paying passengers...so NYC pulled the licence again!

The wartime maritime recce versions of the Fw200 used virtually ALL the space in the "passenger cabin" for extra tankage to achieve its range, up to seven IIRC. I came across a copy of the Fw200's pilot manual online a few years ago...and the fuel system looked like a diagram of spaghetti!
