Hi I wonder if any anyone help me. I have just discovered the above relative. His death date is 10 January 1945. I am wondering what was happening around this time. According to the records he died in Isere, Rhone Alpes, but he was buried in Belgium. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi,

Where did you get your information on his death location?

2nd Derbyshire Yeomanry were in action at Ourthe, Belgium in January 1945 during The Battle of The Bulge. His burial place at Hodister is quite nearby. I wouldn’t expect a deceased serviceman to be brought over 400 miles from Isere for burial purposes.

thanks for your quick replies, we found this information on ancestry family trees and wondered ourselves why would they bury someone 400 miles away, we have been caught ancestry quite a few times and have learnt our lesson :D

Ancestry's fine if you consult their original records, but steer away from this kind of information on family trees.

    Best wishes,
