The census took place on 29 Sept 1939.
The TA units were embodied (mobilised) on 3rd Sept.
The Sutton boys would have been 18 years old if they joined them.
To serve abroad & therefore qualify for the 67th Field Regt (a First Line Regt) they would need to be 20 years old.
Had they signed up and embodied with them they would have been sent back to the 119th in October 1939 while training in Wiltshire.
From my notes: The reason for the visit by Lt Col Nunn May became apparent when 48 Immature gunners left for further training with the 119th.
These were recruits old enough to join but too young to serve abroad.
Two days later another 47 were returned to them.

Most went on to further training either going to the 67th as casualty replacements
or in 1944 sent as replacements to other Regiments in 21st Army Group.
A small group went under the 119th FR to France in 1944 to unload ammunition the few who died are recorded on CWGC in Lille (from memory).
Others who died on home service are recorded by CWGC in UK.
The Regiment trained with the 61st Division.

However I am 90% sure the photograph posted above does not depict RA Cap Badges.

But it could be as in the picture below:

What are you trying to tell me?

Just a note regarding the CWGC details. The additional information is the place where the family lived when they filled out the CWGC form not the place of origin /birth . Likewise the place of death register entry gives only the place of death not the place of birth . Just to avoid any confusion Stu`s family knowledge is more accurate than the registry entry and CWGC (additional info)
A friend of mines uncle is listed as " the son of ******** :husband of *************** of Aston, BIrmingham " a place he never even visited but this is where his wife was working /staying post war when the CWGC contacted her ? (Hope this makes sense)
Post # 2 is the only real way forward .
    Cheers

I'm confused you've mentioned a friend of yours uncle?

Don`t be confused . It`s an example given as Uncle Target was quoting the CWGC entry and death entry. It was to highlight that this information "DOES NOT GIVE A PLACE OF BIRTH " nothing more . It is irrelevant to your search for information on Sutton but posted to stop members perhaps giving you leads to another soldier and to save them time on research which could be irrelevant.

With so little to go on post no #2 gives the only way forward the rest is all possible/maybe.

If the name given above is your relative and the birth dates correct they were both twins so 18 in 1939.
If JE joined the 67th Field Regt RA as suggested in the previous thread he would have been sent back to the 119th the second line Regiment.
He might then have transferred to the Worcs Yeomanry when a little older. The cap badge that I have posted COULD be that in the photo that you posted.

This is however ALL CONJECTURE until you can get his Service Record which will tell you exactly where he went, what postings he had, whether he went abroad.
You don't know which Regiment he was in so paying a Regimental Museum to search for him is not a sensible option.

Check the application rules for the Service Record as I understand they might be changing in April. This was mentioned by a person recently.

So , for me, that's the end of my assistance I can do no more and will leave it to others.
