Moving on from WW2.... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-34287362 I can't move on that much as I have to say I hope they have learnt to look after any PoWs they may take.
This will be a sensitive issue for some of Japan's near neighbours. Careful thought will be needed when deploying their forces overseas.
The news report that I saw showed a parliament in total disarray with opposition members trying to stop the proceedings. Not exactly heartening news. Regards Tom
It is a serious development from a somewhat pacifist position where the Japanese would only respond in the interests of Japanese defence. The US government supplied the equipment that was deemed to be adequate for defence purposes only It does reflect the competition between the Chinese and the Japanese for the position of the leader of influence in the North Pacific.....maybe the Japanese fear Chinese expansion.Where do the Japanese anticipate to deploy these resources?.....in areas where the UN has responsibility As regards the means to cover the cost of increased spending,if that what it comes to, with increased manpower and up to date battlefield technology provisions, for the last 25years or so, if we can believe the economists, the Japanese economy has never escaped from the doldrums.
Tom I totally agree. Not exactly any sense of decorum and let's not forget that it's politicians that take us to War and they are supposedly politicians. This is not a good omen.
