IWM London - One for Kuno - LRDG Chevvy

    Was at the IWM London yesterday and spotted this LRDG Chevvy on display, can anyone shed any light on the recovery of this vehicle from the desert and its transport to the UK?

    he fuel tank was under the sead; correct.

    The truck was discovered somewhen in the 1980s and recovered then with the persmission of the Egyptian Government. There is an article about in one of the older magazines of 'After the Battle'.

    This truck above was one of only two LRDG patrol trucks ever found in Egypt. The second one is a CMP Ford F30 of S Patrol which rests still abandoned on the route from Ain Dalla to Big Cairn. (I had the luck to visit it recently and now the pleasure to write a small article for one of the UK magazines about it...)

    ...not in regard of above truck but of another research: The people at the IWM are very helpful!
