I've heard of Tommies marrying women from NW Europe, I know a member on here who's Mum was Dutch. Never heard of any British chaps marrying Italian women. Though I do know a lady at work Dad was an Italian PoW in England who married an English woman. Anyone know of any Italian ladies who married British servicemen ?
I have no ideas as to what he was or the unit in which he served, but I do know of a Tommy who, having got an Italian woman pregnant later married her when she managed to track him down and followed him back to England. I recall words to the effect that 'he didn't expect her to find him, never mind follow him back to England' - I understand that she just turned up one day in the village in South Cambridgeshire asking where he could be found. Whilst they didn't spend all their lives together, they did have a total of 3 girls and one boy. Regards Evader
I don't know of any specifics, but I believe there were quite a few NZ soldiers who married Italian women and bought them back to NZ.
A friend and neighbour (1 KOYLI veteran) married an Italian girl from Naples. He told me a Major attempted to dissuade him by suggesting he took a good long look at her mother for a glimpse in to the future!

Yes, I had a wonderful woman on one of my Monte Cassino tours a few years ago. Her father had commanded an RASC Pack Mule Transport Company in 44-45 and stayed behind in Rome after the war. He married an Italian woman and Mary was born soon after. FdeP

My mom told me there was a Canadian from Toronto billeted in her house in Russi that wanted to marry her and take her to Canada..... But it didn'i happen... maybe he wasn't handsome....
