Irene Ball and Hilda Mugglestone

    Hi All

    Need your help in adding to the information have on the two women buried in Rossington (South Yorkshire). Any further details will be much appreciated.

    Irene Ball – Private - W/73331 – Auxiliary Territorial Service (Ambulance Driver) - Died 07 October 1943, aged 19, from meningitis – Buried Rossington (St Michael’s) churchyard, Row 18, Grave C. - Irene was born at Stoke on Trent in 1918, the daughter of William Arthur and Gladys Ball. The family later moved to Aberconway Crescent, Rossington, Doncaster. Prior to joining the ATS she was in Domestic Service in Bessacarr, Doncaster. At her funeral a contingent of ATS members from Cusworth (near Doncaster) formed a guard of honour at the church gates.

    Hilda Mugglestone – Aircraftwoman 2nd Class - 461931 – Women’s Auxiliary Air Force – Died 09 November 1943, aged 25 - Buried Rossington (St Michael’s) churchyard, Row 21, Grave E., Hilda was born in 1924, the daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Joseph Mugglestone, formerly of Allenby Crescent, Rossington, Doncaster.
    Prior to joining the RAF she was a Sunday school teacher at Mytholmroyd.

    You have provided me with more information than I already knew about Hilda Mugglestone (thanks!) but I am related to her and may have information about the family that you would be interested in.

    Are you related? What is your interest?
