An article on an academic website (open access) drawing attention to a Japanese presence on VJ-Day @ the National Arboretum last week - not covered before by the media I expect. (Corrected in next post, I did say I expect).

    Two passages to explain:
From: Remembering the second world war’s Burma campaign with the descendants of Japanese fighters on the 80th anniversary of VJ day

Remarkably a uniformed JDF Colonel attended too.

I chose this part of the forum for a higher profile.

"not covered before by the media I expect."

    Japanese presence.

BBC mentioned in their coverage on the day.

Japanese presence also included on BBC News website coverage posted on Friday 15th August, VJ Day this year:

"Yoshi Sekiba said he was paying his respects to the British troops who died, explaining: "Unfortunately, we fought with each other in World War Two, but we are now good friends."

Covered by "the media" at the time.

    Jim.
